Scandola

Morning on the coast of Corsica. We left before the sun rose and were lucky enough to spot a few fin whales near Capo Rosso, which are very rare for the Mediterranean. Our destination was Scandola Nature Reserve, a stunning coastline where rock structures were formed by an ancient volcano that has collapsed into the sea. The water clarity and the deep royal blue of the water felt as surreal as a dream.

Reflections of the morning light broke through the rock formations and glittered upon the water. The sea was warm and calm, yet teeming with fish. Dolphins frequent the area, and with all of the underwater caverns and caves- this place is a freediving heaven. If you can reach it and if you look hard enough you can also find Corsica’s famous red coral. Although our excursion was short, the impact of it’s beauty will remain.
